The Imitation Game (Reaction Paper)

The Imitation Game, based on a true story of a legendary cryptanalysts that was Alan Turing. I already knew Alan Turing because one of my best teachers in ICT shared simple information about him, that he cracked the enigma code and considered to be the greatest mathematician in the world. But when I saw the movie The Imitation Game, I was so amazed yet so sad because I never knew that Alan Turing really had a lot of struggles in his life since he was a kid, he was so smart and really determined of aiming something that he never encountered before and that was the ENIGMA MACHINE. Alan Turing wanted to try solving the impossible problem in the world. The Enigma machines were a series of electro-mechanical rotor cipher machines developed and used in the early- to mid-twentieth century to protect commercial, diplomatic and military communication. They want to crack it for the war will last as soon possible.

The movie was so inspiring because even though sometimes there’s a part that you couldn't understand, but the idea is there and it was amazing how a simple mathematician professor crack the most impossible machine ever built. Of course he had a little help and inspiration for solving it, that's why he built a machine that can crack the enigma and named it "Christopher" the name came from he's dearest friend that he got in love. Yes, I was shocked when I found out that he is a homosexual, homosexual is prohibited in their country during the World War II. When they found out the clue for cracking the code I was so excited because I want to see how he does it, when he did it I felt like it’s really unbelievable. But there are really some twists in this movie and felt like I pity Alan Turing especially his struggles in life and his death at the age of 41 years old.

Alan Turing is one of my hero, because not just he save a lot of lives during the World War II, but for his determination, intelligence, logical thinking that made his creation like the machine " Christopher " that is now considered to be a COMPUTER has many help and contributing big in our society today. Computers are used today to store, retrieve, process, and transmit data and information of all types, almost all the people today are using Computers because our computer today can almost do what you really want the computer to do. Computer is a powerful device and if it wasn't for Alan Turing, we've might not have computers today. And that’s why Alan Turing also considered as the Father of Modern Computers because it was him who started it all.
